Arior Design’s lovely Wivelsfield project was featured in 25 Beautiful Homes Magazine this month take a look!!

Arior Design were asked to remodel and extend this victorian family home, to inlcude a new kitchen and breakfast room , TV room, cloakroom and garden.

An open, clean, contemporary feel was what the client wanted and we think it has hit the nail on the head! We love th bifold doors that open completely including the corner allowing you that wonderful inside/out connection.

Arior Design were asked to design some glazed sliding doors and lacquered panelling to divide the kitchen and snug without cutting out light. The clients have some rather lovely West highland terriers and wanted to be able to have the ability to close off certain areas in the house. Also to cut cooking smells and kitchen noises entering the other rooms in the house.

The house is a beautiful Hove villa not far from Hove Seafront.

For this lovely project we were asked to define the open plan living, dining and music room spaces and to create a light, bright environment. We updated the fireplaces, revamped the exisiting floor, installed specialist AV equipment. We used their exisitng sofas and chairs as they were quite newly purchased but we added lovely new cushions and curtiains, grasspaper wallpaper to the dining area and some light, funky joinery to the music room with a secret sliding glass door with a door to the garage behind.

Well what a fabulous start to 2013 – January saw us out and about seeing new clients all over the south of England. A fabulous townhouse renovation in Sevenoaks, a gorgeous Hove seafront flat (great south views!) and a couple of interesting projects out in depths of beautiful mid sussex to name but a few. We are feeling very lucky and look forward to starting work on them!

Not only do we have all those yummy new projects, but we have some pretty amazing projects we have been working on since last year! For instance we have finished the detail designs on the basement renovation of a Richmond home incuding  a cinema room, playroom, gym and wine store/games room – think neon signs in the corridors directing you to the “bar” and “gym” a fairground style playroom with fairground lighting within joinery and huge neon letters for the children and spa style gym…..we LOVE this project and cannot wait for the build to start!

We are right in the process of developing the interior design of another favourite in the office which is here in good old Brighton; this apartment situated over three floors with a west facing roof terrace….(THE most incredible sunsets)….this will be THE most desirable apartment in Brighton and Hove. Whilst retaining the remaining architectural features of this listed building, we will be adding more sympathetic finishes and materials as a backdrop to a comfortable, contemporary and perhaps a little quirky interior.

If those aren’t enough to whet the appetite then we do have an array of  incredible projects at various stages in London, Hove and Hastings….

While we are working on these, here are some onsite progress photos of a stunning project in a listed building in Knightsbridge, London….almost finished!

Happy New Year!! A little late, but it’s already been a busy start to January!

A few photos added above of a project we completed in 2012. The brief for this lovely project in Hove was to re-design the ground floor open plan music room, office, dining room and sitting room to make them work as individual spaces but to flow through in the finishes and colour pallette. The clients bought the house and inherited the rather dark and outdated decor, we not only replaced the 2 1980s fireplaces with sleek and contemporary styled pieces, but decided to design the central space as a dining area by demarkating it with a dark, textured grasspaper wallpaper and central hanging pendants over the dining table. The space now has definition as a dining room and the deep colour pallette adds ambience.

The music room/study area is kept light and airy and by adding a wall of shelving and desk space gives plenty of storage for books and we desinged within this a sliding glass door to cleverly hide the garage door beyond!

Lightening the sitting room was our main objective and by painting out much of the dark oak doors and architraves and by applying a grey white paint colour to the walls with an Osborne and Little feature wallpaper on one wall we gave the room a lift. With two young children playing in this room, we needed to add some storage for housing some of their toys, we designed two floating style cabinets either side of the new fire place, these also house the audio visual equipment. The clients wanted to use their existing sofas and chair, so we designed the colour pallette around these and smotheres them with contrasting cushions.

Throughout we designed very simple, sleek, floor to ceiling curtains in a pale grey sateen to add sheen to the room and with the interlining add warmth too. We brought the coving forward and hid the tracks up behind them to add height to the rooms.

With an array of different lighting throughout the overall feel is warm, contemporary, practical and hopefully a joy for the clients to live in.

We will be closing the office from Friday 21st December at lunch time. We will be back in the office on Wednesday 2nd January.

We at Arior Design are thrilled at the news that our beautiful Wivelsfield project is to be featured in 25 Beautiful Homes Magazine!

Brighton based photographer James French and interiors writer Angela Everett were onsite last week to work their way through the ‘very large’ house to photograph the rooms, details and for Angela to interview the client and Arior Design’s interior designer Catherine Smith who worked on the project.

The feature will be in the November issue of 25 Beautiful Homes Magazine, so not long to wait! We will of course be posting the article on here, so watch this space!

Arior Design – Brighton Architects and Interior Designers attended the launch party at the Regent Street Studios on Saturday night. Duncan Thomas invited guests to view the newly finished, architecturally designed office building in the heart of the North Laines in Brighton. Arior Design are taking a top floor office and moving in next week! We at Arior Design are very excited to be moving into this beautiful office and had a great ime meeting everyone at the launch party!
